Overview

The DewAir DUO delivers the cooling of an air conditioner and the dehumidification of a whole-home dehumidifier. It is suitable for living spaces up to 1500 sq ft. It delivers a drier more comfortable environment than the typical overly-cool and damp environment delivered by a conventional air conditioner alone.

The DUO, as its name implies, can change its focus between dehumidifying and cooling, depending on what is needed.

The DUO’s patented design allows it to switch between dehumidification mode and cooling mode depending on the demands from the thermostat and the dehumidistat.

For living spaces up to 1200 sq ft, the DUO is paired with a 2-Ton 2-Stage condenser, of which there are several available on the market to choose from. For living spaces up to 1500 sq ft, or if increased ventilation is desired, the DUO is paired with a 3-Ton Bosch BOVA036 condenser.

How the DUO Works

Inside the DUO there is a baffle that directs the air to follow one of two paths:

When dehumidification is called for, the baffle closes and directs the incoming air through a pair of heat exchangers which dramatically increase the DUO’s dehumidification capacity. This is called dehumidification mode.

When cooling is called for, the baffle opens allowing air to bypass the heat exchangers, which increases the DUO’s cooling capacity. This is called cooling mode.

For a 2-ton 2-stage condenser, when the DUO is in dehumidification mode the condenser will operate at its lower speed, and the DUO will remove 7 pints of moisture and deliver 7000 BTUs of sensible cooling.

When the DUO is in cooling mode, the condenser will operate at its higher speed, and the DUO will remove 6 pints of moisture and deliver 14000 BTUs of sensible cooling.
