Today’s Grocery Stores
Modern supermarkets are complex and unique. They have a specific need for dehumidification due to the extensive use of refrigerated cases of frozen and refrigerated food.
Controlling humidity in grocery stores represents a significant challenge, but it also represents a tremendous opportunity to save money and improve the shopping experience. Humidity is a hidden energy issue. Often over half the store energy is refrigeration and air conditioning, and designs should consider the Return on Investment (ROI) provided by lowering operational costs.
If the humidity level is too high, moisture condensation forms on a cold surface, and frost forms on evaporator coils, refrigerated cases, and frozen food packets. Condensation on freezer glass cabinets obstructs the view and diminishes the customer experience.
High humidity levels can also lead to mold and mildew and make it uncomfortable for customers and employees.
